This recipe came from Jessica's cousin Heather. Apple pie is one of my all-time favs so I can't wait to try this.
Step 1
Start by preparing the crumb topping. * Stir together brown sugar, flour and rolled oats. Cut in ½ cup butter until topping is like course crumbs. Set aside.
Step 2
In a large mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt. Add apple slices and gently toss until coated.
Step 3
Transfer apple mixture into the pie shell. Sprinkle crumb topping over apple mixture. Place pie on a cookie sheet to catch drippings.
Step 4
Cover edges with aluminum foil. Bake in a preheated 375 oven for 25 minutes, then remove foil and put back in for another 25-30 minutes w/out foil.
Step 5
Remove from oven. Sprinkle pie with chopped pecans and then drizzle with caramel on top. Cool on a wire rack and enjoy warm.
